The hackathon
The water deficit is estimated today in the region of Marrakech-Safi at 564 million cubic meters per year (supply 2,267, demand 1,703) and water resources are insufficient to meet the needs of the region and threaten the natural and socio-economic potential of the latter.
Water stress is caused primarily by the following factors:
– Climate change
– Irregularity of rainfall
– Decrease in cold periods
– Chronic periodic droughts
– Decrease in precipitation
– Overexploitation & overconsumption
Thus, to help address this issue, the Regional Investment Center of Marrakech-Safi, Emerging Business Factory, and Near East Foundation, under the auspices of the Wilaya of Marrakech-Safi, organize from October 12 – 14, 2022 the HACKATHON WATER SHOW.
In partnership with several actors of the regional ecosystem concerned by the theme, HACKATHON WATER SHOW is a 3-day event open to all entrepreneurs (including startups), and university students of the Marrakech-Safi region, who wish to provide answers to the problems related to water management and are able to transform them into innovative projects.

ELIGIBILITY & EVALUATION
Applications must meet multiple criteria, including market trends and needs, innovativeness of the solution, stage of development, scalability, potential impact, technical and financial feasibility, and commercialization potential.
Hackathoners can participate individually or in groups of up to 5 members.

The Hackathon Water Show, will announce 3 winning teams that will benefit, in addition to the financial support, from a 3-month incubation program provided by EBF, with the objective of promoting the maturation, the creation of companies and the accelerated development of projects…
Incubation
The best projects will benefit from an incubation program. The program provides mentoring and funding throughout the project design and deployment cycle.

Regardless of the final outcome, this hackathon will offer participants the opportunity to participate in numerous workshops led by experts and to develop various skills. It will also create an environment for enriching exchanges.
